I invited Mike Cantrell to provide an introduction to Postural Restoration for the 3rd year PT students this year. I have had no exposure to PRI, but I was really interested to learn more after our student, Megan H., attended the clinic there this past summer. We introduce other techniques in our program, including PNF and NDT, so to get exposure to another technique that can be a useful tool in our tool box as physical therapists seemed to be worthwhile. Plus, I know Mike and I know how engaging he can be- I’m always interested in bringing in engaging guests to the classroom.
And boy was I right! Mike was fantastic, and I wish we could have had more time to digest and understand the beginnings of PRI. I think it sums it up nicely, when students after said, “this changes my entire way of thinking about PT,” or even better, “I just updated my status on Facebook to “I’m in love with PRI.” Without a doubt, I would love to have Mike back to teach the students next year and personally, I want to learn more about PRI as a practicing PT! - Anne, Clinical Assistant Professor (Georgia State University)
