Prior attendance of Myokinematic Restoration, Pelvis Restoration and Postural Respiration is required.
This four-day advanced lecture and demonstration course is structured so that clinicians will gain an appreciation for the relationship between pathomechanic and behavioral patterns. It is highly advanced and interactive, and reflects PRI concepts covered in the Myokinematic Restoration, Pelvis Restoration and Postural Respiration courses in a system-integrative fashion. Both non-pathologic compensatory and pathologic compensatory issues as they relate to the Left AIC and Right BC pattern will be explored in great detail. Anatomy, examination tests, algorithms, and manual and non-manual respiratory-based techniques will be presented with focus on total body integration of muscle, rather than on individual muscular regions of the body. Participants will be able to immediately apply concepts of synchronous breathing, tri-planar integration and thoracic scapular integration in the treatment and management of typical compensatory and non-compensatory musculoskeletal patterns, and pathologic and non-pathologic curvature of the spine, including intervention with daily occupational demands and challenges. This course enables the participant to advance integration of PRI concepts and principles by taking into consideration all patterned muscles outlined in the PRI Primary Courses.
Prior attendance of Myokinematic Restoration, Pelvis Restoration and Postural Respiration is required. A certificate for 30 contact hours will be awarded to registrants upon completion of the course.

Ron Hruska, MPA, PT
Ron graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and matriculated to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completing a degree in Physical Therapy. Following graduation from Physical Therapy school in 1980, Ron accepted a position as a staff PT at the Omaha Veterans Administration Medical Center. In 1983, he was promoted to Assistant Chief and Clinical Educator. During this time, he also earned a Masters of Public Administration through the University of Nebraska, Omaha. In 1984, Ron accepted a position as Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at St. Elizabeth Community Health Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he served in this role until 1997. In 1997, he began working with Inverse Technology Corporation as Director of Clinical Services. During this time, Ron was teaching courses across the country on “Patella-Femoral Dysfunction and Protonics”, as well as the first Postural Restoration® courses. In 1999, Ron opened a private practice physical therapy clinic, Hruska Clinic Restorative Physical Therapy Services, in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2000, as a result of his extensive clinical and professional experience, he established the Postural Restoration Institute®, to explore and explain the science of postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns and the influence of polyarticular chains of muscles.
Ron has developed a strong interest in myokinematic, biomechanical, occlusal and visual influences on postural and peripheral adaptation patterns. Over 35 years of clinical experience assists him with direct patient interventions based on specific examination and evaluation data that best reflects neuromechanical stability, trunk symmetry and respiratory balance. In his earliest clinical practice at the Omaha Veterans Administration Medical Center, he recognized asymmetrical patterns that were influencing posture and movement, which led to the beginning of the science which is now Postural Restoration®. He lectures extensively and consults regularly with physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, optometrists, dentists, and other health care and fitness professionals across the United States and internationally on patterned postural position and pathology and his approach of restoring symmetrical balance using Postural Restoration® principles. As a result of his clinical experience and interdisciplinary evidence-based integration, patients and healthcare professionals travel from across the country and internationally to the Hruska Clinic in Lincoln, Nebraska for consultation and treatment. These patients are usually experiencing symptoms of movement dysfunction associated with neuro-muscular, respiratory and sensorial asymmetry.
Throughout his entire career as a physical therapist, he has remained a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, where he has served on the Judicial Committee, Reference Committee, and House of Delegates. Ron has served as President of the Nebraska Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association. He has also served on the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, where he was one of five individuals to be selected on the Model Practice Act Task Force. Ron has also served on the Nebraska Department of Health Physical Therapy Board, where he was appointed by the governor to Chairman of the Board of Examiners in Physical Therapy. Ron is co-inventor of the Protonics Neuromuscular Training System. Ron has also invented and patented the Prism and Priori PRI Aquatic systems.
Over his career, Ron has presented at several national and state American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) conferences, the American Academy of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD) Annual Airway Summits, the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) Convention, as well as National Strength and Conditioning (NSCA) and National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) national and local conferences. Ron has authored articles published in journals including; Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Clinics of North America, Dental Clinics of North America, The Journal of the American Dental Association, and EXPLORE.
Ron is the founder of the Postural Restoration Institute®, where he continues to teach continuing education courses for healthcare and fitness professionals. He consults at the Hruska Clinic, Restorative Physical Therapy Services and Hohl Orthodontics in Lincoln, Nebraska. In addition, Ron serves as a Biomechanical Consultant to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through the Division of Athletic Medicine.
Dan Houglum, MSPT, ATC/L, PRC
Dan graduated from South Dakota State University in 1997 with a degree in Athletic Training, and has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1997. He graduated from Des Moines University in 1999 with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy degree.
His interest in Postural Restoration was initially piqued in 1998 by Ron Hruska while Dan was a PT student on his first orthopedic clinical affiliation. Ron had not yet established the Postural Restoration Institute as we know it today, and Dan met Ron while at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Ron introduced Dan to several PRI concepts, and was kind enough to help a student understand that there was more to the human body than what was being taught in PT school.
Dan started taking courses through PRI in 2004, and began focusing on Postural Restoration as his primary treatment approach in 2006. He is a member of the 2012 class to earn the designation of Postural Restoration Certified (PRC) as a result of advanced training, extraordinary interest and devotion to the science of postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns, and the influence of polyarticular chains of muscles on the human body as defined by the Postural Restoration Institute®.
While working for a large physical therapy chain afforded Dan the opportunity to take and host a number of PRI courses, he understood that to improve his knowledge and clinical application of Postural Restoration concepts, he would need to work with other like-minded clinicians. In January 2016, he began working with Donna Byrne, PRC class of 2012, at Pilates Central in Wilmette, IL. This change has allowed Dan to progress his understanding and utilization of Postural Restoration concepts, and helped facilitate an opportunity to join the exceptional teaching faculty at the Postural Restoration Institute.
Dan was honored as a Five Star Professional Top Physical Therapist in Chicago for 2014 and 2015. His 17 years of clinical expertise has led to invitations to speak at the Northwestern University Sports Medicine Symposium, National Athletic Training Association National Convention, and the Postural Restoration Institute, as well as consult with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Northwestern University, and DePaul University.
Lori Thomsen, MPT, PRC
Lori completed her Bachelor of Biology degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska and her Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her many years of clinical experience have resulted in a strong passion for the Postural Restoration science and patient interventions. She enjoys teaching other healthcare professionals and has a strong interest in runners, scoliosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, and vision/vestibular integration. She is the Operational Manager of the Hruska Clinic™, and currently practices at the Hruska Clinic ™, Restorative Physical Therapy Services in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2005, Lori earned the designation of Postural Restoration Certified (PRC) as a result of advanced training, extraordinary interest and devotion to the science of postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns, and the influence of polyarticular chains of muscles on the human body as defined by the Postural Restoration Institute®.
Robert “Skip” George, DC, CSCS, CCSP, PRC
Robert “Skip” George, D.C. previously practiced chiropractic in San Diego and La Jolla, CA from 1980-2021, before moving to Logan, Utah. He is one of the handful of chiropractic doctors nationally that integrates chiropractic, rehabilitation and sports performance training. He holds specialties as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Postural Restoration Certified (PRC). In addition, he is trained in Active Release Technique (ART), and certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA).
One of his purposes has been to continually add “tools” to his tool belt to improve patient outcomes utilizing the most effective evidence based approaches. One of the most dynamic and state-of-the-art approaches is PRI for rehabilitation and sports performance.
In 2014, Dr. George was the first chiropractic doctor to become Postural Restoration Certified (PRC) with the Postural Restoration Institute. His practice centers around the PRI approach to structure, position, posture and balanced function. One of the main premises of PRI is that restoring function and balance requires a foundation that provides normal function and position of the diaphragm and its relationship to the ribcage, spine and continuing with the rest of the skeletal structure. The diaphragm is fundamental and restoring proper breathing with alignment is critical for effective treatment outcomes. The success of most treatments, including chiropractic, will be inhibited without addressing this most important muscle of the body and the neurology that drives it.. His clinic, George Sports Chiropractic is a designated Postural Restoration Center.
Dr. George has lectured nationally and internationally on topics ranging from sports injuries, concussion and the Postural Restoration Institute. He has also written numerous articles on sport performance and rehabilitation and is a faculty member of the Postural Restoration Institute.
Lisa Mangino, PT, DPT, C/NDT, SBS-C2, RPC
Lisa graduated from Duke University with a Master’s in Physical Therapy in 1999. Understanding the value of education, she had the opportunity to complete the requirements for the (at that time) newly instituted Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Duke and obtained her Doctorate in 2000. She began her PT career in Sports Medicine at Duke University, but because of her passion for children, sought a position in pediatrics at Duke.
Since 2000, Lisa has gained a depth of knowledge of pediatric physical therapy in the acute care setting (hospital), home health (in the child’s natural environment), and also in the outpatient clinic at Duke University Medical Center. She has a wealth of experience with many diagnoses of childhood and developmental delays. She was able to work closely with pediatric occupational therapists at Duke and has a thorough understanding of the importance of addressing Sensory Integration while addressing gross motor limitations.
Her dedication to treating the child with neurological impairments led her to pursue certification in Neuro-developmental Treatment (NDT), which she completed in 2009.
Lisa obtained certification by the APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) achieving the credentials of Pediatric Certified Specialist, (PCS) in 2010.
She earned the C2 Advanced Certification in Scroth-Based Scoliosis Rehabilitation from Scoliosis Rehab, Inc, in Steven’s Point Wisconsin in 2014.
Because of her understanding of her own postural asymmetries and chronic back/joint pain that did not respond to traditional PT, she became a patient working with a PT who is certified by the Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI). Her dramatic improvements in back and joint pain lead her to acquire more knowledge of PRI. She took her first PRI course in 2009. She attained the PRC in 2014 and has been applying these concepts to children since 2010. She has seen some great results in teenagers with musculoskeletal pain, idiopathic toe walking and scoliosis.
