Founder Pilates Central (Physical Therapy & Pilates Studio)
Donna Parise Byrne is honored to be collaborating with James Anderson and Sarah Petrich to develop the PRI Pilates affiliate course. They are looking forward to introducing it to the PRI and Pilates community in 2017.
Donna’s first passion was ballet, her first career was as a professional ballet dancer with the Washington Ballet company. Interest in anatomy and kinesiology led Donna to a second career as a physical therapist, graduating from UIC in 1988.
Early in her Physical Therapy career Donna was introduced to the work of Joseph Pilates and began incorporating the Pilates method into her treatment plans at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, where she led the Performing Arts program in addition to working in the Chronic Pain and Arthritis programs. Donna continued her studies and was board certified as an Orthopaedic Clinic Specialist (OCS) in 2000 and received her Rehabilitation Certification from Polestar Pilates in 2001.
Opening her private practice in 2003, Donna was able to fully integrate her physical therapy and Pilates practice by offering a continuum of post rehab and fitness Pilates classes. Donna has created a nurturing community at Pilates Central, encouraging continuous learning and creative treatment plans. She was introduced to Postural Restoration in 2009 and began incorporating the concepts of Postural Restoration into her practice of Pilates-based physical therapy. Donna completed her PRC certification in 2012 and Pilates Central was designated a Postural Restoration Center in 2016. Donna’s current passion is integrating Postural Restoration and Pilates principles.
