James graduated from the University of Houston -Clear Lake, earning his Bachelor's and Master's of Science in Human Performance. He completed his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from San Jacinto College-South campus, allowing him to practice physical therapy for more than 15 years. James is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has completed additional specialty certifications and training in the areas of manual therapy and functional movement screen and assessment. In addition, James has just completed post-graduate work with the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI), earning his PRC.
James currently shares his time working at Kindred Rehabilitation Hospital - Clear Lake, teaching for the University of Houston-Clear Lake as an adjunct professor, and providing in-house continuing education for several outpatient clinics. He has adapted PRI concepts into his current curriculum including HLTH 3316 Applied Kinesiology and HLTH 4305 Seminar in Sport Medicine to better facilitate advancement of future health professionals.James provides consultations utilizing his outpatient orthopedic and advanced movement assessment experience. His overall approach to treating pain and dysfunction is integrative in nature.
For the past 17 years James has been crafting his skills in the areas of spine and hip rehabilitation, and currently treats a wide variety of patients including chronic pain sufferers. His overall mission is to provide relief to patients and athletes who cannot find relief from traditional medicine. His osteopathic perspective allows him to take a different approach to help his patients regain their lives.
His contributions to the area of health, fitness and rehabilitation lends to his credibility. Key contributions have been made to advance breast cancer awareness through developing workshops and informing the cancer community on the benefits of exercise for cancer related fatigue. James has also worked closely with the industrial populations to help educate and prevent back injury at the work place.Through education on fall prevention with balance screenings, he has improved quality of life for the geriatric community.
James’ passions include teaching, learning and mentoring, to contribute to the current paradigm shift in physical therapy. When he is not spending time in the area of academia and therapy, his time is best spent with his family, where they reside in Pearland, TX.
