Dr. Josh Funk, DPT, PRC, CSCS was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD and attended Poolesville High School. Josh went on to play Division 1 lacrosse and earn a B.S. degree from The Ohio State University before earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Maryland-Baltimore. Dr. Funk recently earned the distinction of Postural Restoration Certified (PRC) after several years of being immersed in the teachings of the Postural Restoration Institute. In addition to being a physical therapist, Dr. Josh Funk is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.

A lifelong athlete, Josh became interested in becoming a physical therapist when going through PT as a D1 lacrosse player at Ohio State. After avoiding shoulder surgery for a torn labrum, Josh has been entrenched in the world of physical therapy and sports performance. Over the past few years, he has continually developed his knowledge base and expertise as a physical therapist through continuing education courses and working from a wide variety of athletic and recreational backgrounds.Recently, Josh has had the opportunity to work with athletes from the NFL, MLB, professional MMA and MLL. 

History of Passion

The Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) is built around 30 years of clinical practice associated with recurring successes of specific patient treatment programs. We established reproducible, outcome-based programs based on consistent evidence-based correlations, discovered with patient biomechanical, respiratory, and neurological functional patterns and limitations. My passion for the integrated systems of the body has resulted in an examination and intervention process of the asymmetrical human body called Postural Restoration.
