For those of you who are familiar with PRI manual techniques presented in our Postural Respiration™ and Cervical-Cranio-Mandibular Restoration™ courses, you will be happy to hear that we have filmed the manual techniques for a DVD. The date for filming was on May 30th and the finished project is expected by early summer. The live DVD will provide a great resource and guide for clinicians practicing PRI manual techniques. Twenty-three techniques will comprise this DVD; many of them are covered only briefly in our courses. Along with step by step instruction you will also receive commentary provided by Ron Hruska on the creation, application and significance of each technique.

Our first clinical course, Postural Restoration, took place in Woodbury, MN last week! Here are some of the comments:

“Very helpful with verbal cues and patient education. This explained the whys of what to use depending on testing results.”

“Very helpful, explained things thoroughly.”

“Carrie is a very good, knowledgeable speaker. I felt very comfortable asking questions and participating in disucssions.”

“Carrie was an awesome instructor and was able to bring together and answer a lot of questions I had after the February 2008 Myokinematic Restoration course.”

A clinical course takes place when you choose to host a course at your facility for your staff only. Your staff can be educated as a team while saving on continuing education costs. In-services topics, dates, and times are flexible depending on your staff needs. All in-services are presented by PRI certified therapists. In addition to having completed an intense certification process through PRI, these individuals have been clinically practicing postural restoration principles for several years and have been individually trained by Ron Hruska.

Together, Ron Hruska and James Anderson presented Myokinematic Restoration – An Integrated Approach to Treatment of Lumbo-Pelvic-Femoral Pathomechanics in Elon, North Carolina on March 12th and 13th. This course was a result of the collaboration between PRI and Elon University’s Department of Physical Therapy Education. Forty-three participants: DPT students, faculty and area clinicians from North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia, represented a wide range of clinical backgrounds and experience. The academic setting and diversity of attendees made for dynamic interaction. In addition to the weekend course, Ron was honored to accept an invitation to present an overview of PRI concepts, focusing on scoliosis, to Elon’s charter DPT class on Monday, March 14th. PRI is as dedicated as ever to the importance of student education and awareness of postural restoration concepts at every level of professional learning and excited about the support and enthusiasm that exists at Elon University today!

The Postural Restoration Institute™ presented the first course of 2005 in Burlington, Vermont on January 8th and 9th. This was Ron Hruska’s 6th trip to this state that has embraced Postural Restoration as a way of practicing physical therapy. With 50 attendees, the University of Vermont provided a perfect host site for the Postural Respiration course. While at the University, Ron was delighted to offer consultation to the men’s basketball athletic program, which continues to experience a great deal of success with the Postural Restoration approach. We look forward to future course offerings in this area where such tremendous support is evident! Go Cats!

The Postural Restoration Institute™ was excited to offer for the first time, a four-day Advanced Integration course in Lincoln, Nebraska this past December. The course was a success with 32 attendees representing 12 states coming together to consider advanced concepts related to Postural Restoration. These individuals were required to have previously completed at least one PRI course. The course was highly advanced and interactive, reflecting PRI concepts covered in both the Myokinematic and Postural Respiration courses in an integrative fashion. Both non patho-compensatory and patho-compensatory issues were discussed as they relate to the Left AIC and Right BC pattern. Anatomy, examination tests, algorithms and lab were also presented with integration as the focus rather than separated by regions of the body. We look forward to presenting this course each December in Lincoln!
